Crossing the Hungarian border

The Slovak countryside near the border is more or less flat farming area. We crossed the border by crossing the Danube near Esztergom. This town has magnificient basilica on the hill.

Passing through Visegrád and Budapest

The Visegrád had important role in recent history. The Visegrád Group (or V4) alliance of four Central European nations: Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia was established here in 1991. The group was created to facilitate the transition from Soviet dominance to democratic governance and to secure integration into Western institutions.

Budapest is Hungarian capital with magnificient parliament building along the Danube.

Stopping in Tihany

Tihany is a historical, cultural, and geological jewel of Lake Balaton in Hungary. Sitting on a prominent volcanic peninsula, it is globally renowned for its ancient Benedictine Abbey, spectacular lavender fields, and diverse natural wonders. Tourists visit it in large numbers.

Continuing to our destination at Lake Balaton

Our destination for today was Keszthely, a town on the eastern end of Lake Balaton. On our route, we drove through a town with an old cobblestone street, which I had not seen anywhere else in such a form.
