Turning south

Because of the accelerated journey, I had to find accommodation for another night. I had a reservation for Friday and Saturday in Alta, where I wanted to stay for two days and wait out the weather. Now I arrived on Thursday. I left Repvåg in perfect weather, but half an hour later I already had to put on my rain gear. I drove to Alta, did a bit of sightseeing, but not much, because it was raining heavily. Probably the most notable building in Alta is the Northern Lights Cathedral.

I also needed a Norwegian prepaid SIM card to be able to use the Internet on the phone. I found a TeleNor shop and they told me they don't sell it but have a reseller network. They gave me the address of the store where I could get it and I went there and purchased it.

My phone has no support for e-SIM, so I had to buy a physical SIM card and set it up. Surprisingly I was able to set it up in the first attempt. I took a plan for 12 GB of data which came with unlimited minutes and text messages.

After a brief sightseeing in the rain, I went to a pizzeria to get something to eat and choose accommodation for the day. Prices in Alta were 150 euros or more per night, so I looked for cheaper options outside Alta. This turned out to be a good decision because I found an alternative in the countryside, about a 30-minute drive from Alta. The place was very nice, located in a small, quiet village surrounded by forest. There were different types of cabins and even tents available. They also offered a delicious breakfast.

I traveled 194 km today and the total trip counter stopped at 4,358 km.
