Day 3: From Oświęcim to Krakow

Starting the day with good weather, first stop in Babice
We got ourselves ready in the morning, loaded up the bike and continued our tour. Our first stop was a place called Babice, only about half an hour drive away. There is an open air museum with typical old country houses from several Polish regions. Everything is nicely preserved and presented.

When we saw all the houses we continued on foot for about 30 min to a nearby hill with the castle. We climbed on top of the tower and were rewarded by a great view of the surrounding area.

Wadowice - the town where Pope John Paul II grew up
Because Wadowice was on our way, we decided to stop there and see the family home of Karol Wojtyła, who became Pope John Paul II. The family lived in the house on the picture below. They didn't own it, they were renting it.

Wadowice is a nice town, here are some more pictures from it.

More old wooden houses in Lanckorona
This little town sits on a small hill. In the center there are some streets with old wooden houses. We stopped there to see them.

We found a restaurant and had dinner there. The house is also old and the interior is a work of art and beautifully decorated.

Arriving to Krakow
We arrived in Krakow late in the afternoon, before dark. The traffic was heavy but flowing. We found an apartment and parked the motorbike in a private parking lot belonging to an apartment building. It was a fairly new building, built specifically for hosting tourists. Access to the building and the room was provided with codes that we had received earlier.

Today's section was 129 km long. So far, we have covered a total of 934 km on this tour.
