Starting the tour

This year we decided to explore the Visegrad countries: Czechia, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary. The tour will be shorter, lasting about eight or nine days.

June weather is known to be unpredictable. After a week of extreme heat for this time of year, we have had some storms. We started the tour on Sunday morning, with our first destination being Brno in Czechia. After the Ljubelj Pass, we drove through Klagenfurt and continued on motorways, passing Graz and Vienna. Austria has large wind farms near the border with Czechia.

We made some stops, and a couple of times the clouds indicated coming storms, so I suggested putting on rain gear. Boža then told me to just go on because she had made an agreement with the ones up there to keep the rain away. It so happened that we stopped to refuel, and after a few kilometers, we saw that the road was wet from a passing storm a few minutes earlier. But we stayed dry.

When we finally made it to our booked apartment in Brno, a storm arrived a minute later. Good job, Boža!

The odometer shows 525 km after the first day of the tour.

Exploring the Old Town of Brno

Our apartment was about a 30-minute walk from the Old Town attractions. We walked there and saw some of the things ChatGPT suggested.

Old Town is very nice and clean. We visited some squares, Špilberk Park and castle, and the St. Peter & Paul Cathedral.

Some of the houses are real works of art, telling a story of past success.

When it started to get dark, we walked back to our apartment and prepared for the next day.
