Day 2: Freiberg sightseeing
Exploring Freiberg

Exploring Freiberg
Freiberg was founded in 12th century following the discovery of silver. It quickly became a major mining, economic and scientific center. It is part of UNESCO World Heritage Ore Mountains Mining Region, famous for its preserved medieval center. Mining tradition ended in 1969.

The town is not large, you can explore it on foot. It has many lovely cobblestone streets in the old center. Everything is clean and tidy.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints currently has about 150 temples worldwide, about a tenth of which are in Europe. One of them is in Freiberg, and that was one of the reasons I decided to stop there. In the morning, I visited the temple and its surroundings.
